OUR TEAM

We believe that the success of any educational institution is anchored on good governance and management. At Sacred Heart Seminary every one is a leader and a manger in his her own right: Board of Governors at the level of policy and oversight, the Administration and staff at the level of implementation of the school program and students at level of learning and prefectorial system.

Board of Governors

The Board of Governors are chosen according to the Education Act 2008, Article 44 (4) and appointed by the Archbishop of Gulu who is the local Ordinary. It comprises 12 people representing all the major stakeholders namely; the Foundation body, parents, teachers, non-teaching staff, local government, and the Alumni. The Board meets once every term ordinarily and at any time and place in case of emergency.

Administration/Staff

The seminary being a unique institution, the Administrators and Staff are also formators to emphasize the holistic formation of the seminarians/learners; they do more than just delivery of lessons but accompany the seminarians by their example of life.

The top managers of the seminary are: the Rector, the Vice Rector, the Director of Studies and the General Spiritual Director. They enforce smooth flow of management in the school.

The middle managers are the heads of department/sports and games. They ensure that all departmental activities planned are implemented as such without any interruptions.

The lower managers are the class teachers and patrons of clubs and societies. They see that in their individual classes and clubs every planned activities move as scheduled.

The Prefect System

The prefect system is an essential feature in the management at Sacred Heart Seminary Lacor. It assists the Rector and the staff in maintaining discipline and is the channel of communication between the staff and the students. It is a way of preparing leaders, stimulating responsibility and initiative.

Seminarians showing suitable qualities are democratically elected by fellow students through secret ballots and vetted by administration to be prefects to be responsible for various areas of school life: Class monitor, time keeper, games and sports prefect, health and hygiene prefect etc. There is also the Head prefect in charge of all prefects with his assistant.

Parents Teachers Association (PTA)

PTA is the acronym for Parents Teachers Association. It brings together It is one of the key stakeholders in the school, that is, all the parents of our students and teachers in the school. Two representatives of the parents and one representative of the teachers sit on the board of Governors of the Seminary. All parents are encouraged to participate actively in the activities of the Association.

The goals of the PTA are to:

  • Ensure the parents and teachers have a voice in the school, its administration and decision-making process.
  • Be a medium of communication between the parents and teachers and the administration.
  • Provide support to the various programs and projects that enrich the experience of our students.
  • Engage parents in the learning experience of their children and to offer social, moral and financial support.
  • Provide feedback to parents and teachers about the experiences of students: strength, weakness or challenges, threats and opportunities so that they can receive appropriate support from parents and teachers.

The PTA is run by an Executive of nine people who meet every term.

Alumni

The Old students of Sacred heart Seminary have constituted themselves into and Association called “Lacor Seminary Old Students Association (LASOSA). The alumni association meet once a year for a general assembly. The also second one of its members on the Board of Sacred Heart Seminary.
