Our Projects
Sacred Heart Seminary was built in the 1930s, and its buildings have served generations of seminarians. Keeping them sound, and preparing the seminary for the years ahead, is ongoing work. Your gifts help us do both.
Restoring our historic buildings
We are restoring A-Level Classroom Block and its chapel; and plan restorations of O-Level Classroom Block, the Administration Block, the Auditorium, the Laundries and A-Level Dormitory. Timely repairs cost far less than waiting for older structures to fail.
Improving basic services
Clean water
A bigger, higher supply tank to improve water distribution across the compound, plus storm and rainwater harvesting.
Power
A solar system to cut our electricity bills, and a new, more efficient diesel generator for backup.
Building for the future
We plan to build staff quarters, a new library, an additional dormitory and an ICT lab, so the seminary can welcome more students and give them better places to live and study.
Technology upgrade
We want to bring reliable internet, computers, TV screens and accessories for classrooms, and CCTV cameras for security. We also want to train our teachers to use ICT well in their teaching.
Farm and gardens
Our crops, poultry, kitchen gardens and piggery help feed the seminary and reduce our running costs. We hope to expand them, including by acquiring additional farmland.
Supporting students in need
Alongside these projects, we help seminarians whose families cannot afford tuition and scholastic materials. Every gift, large or small, helps keep the doors open to them.
Purchase a New Double Cabin pickup
We want to acquire a new vehicle since the old one bought in 1992 has served its purpose and maintenance cost has gone up.
